COMMENT FROM RESIDENT (unedited):
I think that security gates are a wonderful idea.
Usually Police, Fire and Emergency people have a universal
code to get into such gated areas. I believe delivery
drivers (FedEx, UPS, USPS) also have one, but not the same
as the emergency response one. I also support the idea of
building "letters", not numbers. If we put building numbers
up, in addition to our condo number, I think this will be
confusing. If we put up letters instead, I think it would
be OK and easier to tell people to go to "J-712" instead of
"7-712". Plus, this will not affect our mailing address
with USPS, nothing will change if we put up building letters
(I checked).

Comment: RE: BUILDING ADDRESSES & LOCATORS REGARDING AFFIXING
NUMBERS TO THE FACE OF EACH STRUCTURE ISSUE
The following are my questions, comments and suggestions in
response to the last comments from resident:
1. Are you suggesting to affix designated building numbers
to the face of each structure? Or letters? If you look at
the above map, we already have numbers assigned to each
building, so I can only assume you meant designated building
numbers. Per the map, Phase 2 has 17 Bldg numbers and 244
unit numbers. This link did not include a map reflecting the
number of building for Phase 1 or 3.
2. PROWLER ISSUE: Prowlers lie, cheat and steal. Therefore,
they will lie to your face regardless if we have designated
building numbers that coincide with our existing unit numbers.
	· SOLUTION TO PROWLER ISSUE: If we vote on completing
the brick wall around the entire complex and installing
automatic gates, this would limit prowler access. The Board
and Merit ARE currently considering automatic gates.
3. DIRECTING THE POLICE, PARAMEDICS, FIREMEN or PIZZA GUY TO
A DESIGNATED AREA: In the past, when I have called the
police, I simply describe the area by directing them toward
RSM Pkwy, El Toro Rd, the hills, or Phase 1, 2, or 3. It's up
to the police to figure the rest out. Unfortunately, most
the police, paramedics and firemen are VERY FAMILIAR with this
complex. Don't you see them here all the time? When I call
for any delivery, I warn them ahead of time & give specific
directions.
4. DIRECTING LOST GUESTS TO A DESIGNATED BUILDING: Affixing
designated building numbers to structures might work for
business complexes that can be viewed while you drive, but
this is a HUGE COMPLEX containing 3 Phases with buildings
contained within the perimeter where a person needs to walk
around to find any number. As you confirmed, since the
average owner or tenant does not know what unit numbers are
associated with the buildings, then do you really think the
average person will take the time to walk around and memorize
all the designated building numbers in each Phase? Most
people don't even know their own neighbors. As a result, I
don't think spending money installing letters to our buildings
would make a huge difference when it comes to assisting people
asking for directions. Maps were made to help people with
directions, so directing someone to a map is easier.
5. INSTALLING A MAP TO DIRECT OUTSIDERS: When you opened this
link, what was the first thing that caught your eye? Was it
the map at the top of this page? The average delivery company
or guest uses MAPQUEST to get here. The key word here is MAP.
If they use MapQuest to get here, then do you think they would
rather spend time driving or walking around looking for
building AND unit numbers? Or do you think they would rather
go directly to a map to get specific directions? Even Malls
have maps. As a result of all the above, I think installing
lighted maps (similar to the above picture, excluding garage
and carport numbers) within Phase 1, 2 and 3 is the solution
to the problem. Until then, I suggest that people warn
outsiders of the complexities of this complex and give them
specific directions.
6. EXCLUDING GARAGE/CARPORT NUMBERS FROM THE MAP: Thank God,
the picture of the map displayed on this site does NOT reflect
the correct garage numbers that coincide with the units.
Nonetheless, I suggest that if the HOA installs maps, that
they only include the unit and building numbers on the maps.
By way of this posting, PLEASE DO NOT identify the garage or
carport numbers that coincide with the units due to safety and
theft reasons. Thank you!

COMMENT FROM RESIDENT (unedited):
Comment: Issuing designated building numbers on four sides of the
buildings to indicate which building is which is recommended. When
a prowler is casing a unit and I get into their face, they state
they are lost and looking for a particular unit. Since I don't know
what numbers are associated with the buildings, I can only say you
have to walk around (which is what they are doing when I confronted
them). If the visitor or guest was directed to a specific building
(like a bank of units being "F" or "K") then, I would know where to
direct that soul because (while I don't know the specific apt #
between 130 and 195,) I do know that building "F" is over there and
that's where your friend can be found. Furthermore, if I call a
police officer for a prowler, loud party, or violence, I can say the
perpertrator is near building "G" heading towads "R" or the
complaint is in building "H". Paramedics can find a building a whole
lot faster than an apartment unit. Pizza deliveries that are speeding
throughout the complex for a fast delivery and not paying attention
to the children, can more easily find their destination safely.
